Academic Qualifications
Prof. Dr. Baby Paul K. is an accomplished academician with over 40 years of teaching and professional experience in the fields of Architecture and Urban & Regional Planning.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kerala (Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology).
He completed his Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Mysore in 1982, graduating First Class with First Rank, followed by a Post-Graduate Diploma in Environmental Planning (1983) from the same university.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum (University of Kerala) in 1978.
In 2007, he successfully completed an International Advanced Leadership Training Programme in Hawaii, USA.
Professional Experience
Dr. Paul’s professional and academic career spans over four decades, marked by distinguished leadership in architectural education and urban planning.
He began his career in 1980 as a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture, College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET) under the Government of Kerala. He was also the Founder Head of the Department of Architecture at the Government Engineering College, Thrissur. Over the years, he rose through the ranks and retired as Head of the Department of Architecture, CET, in 2009.
After his tenure in government service, he made significant contributions to private architectural education. He served as Professor (PG) at Manipal University, and later held leadership roles as Director of Mc Gan’s Ooty School of Architecture (affiliated with Anna University) and Director of IES College of Architecture, Thrissur.
He was the Founder Principal (2014–2019) and continues to serve as Director of Marian College of Architecture & Planning (MCAP), Kazhakkuttam, Trivandrum, where he has been instrumental in shaping the college’s academic and institutional vision.
International and Consultancy Experience
Dr. Paul served as Architect Planner in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Sultanate of Oman, where he played a key role in settlement planning in the Dhofar region and contributed to environmental research projects.
He also served as Consultant Architect Planner for the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Trivandrum.

Dr. Paul has conducted numerous training programmes and faculty development workshops for architects and engineers on topics such as:
